Totoku Launches Industry's First 15 Megapixel DICOM Display for Mammography

TOKYO, Japan, November 1, 2007 – TOTOKU Electric Co., Ltd. developed a new 21.3” monochrome display with super high resolution of 15 mega pixels, “MS51i2” to cope with higher resolution images output by modality devices. The new model will be exhibited at The 17th Meeting of the Japanese Association of Breast Cancer Screening held in Pacifico Yokohama from November 21 to 22, and at RSNA 2007 (Radiological Society of North America) in Chicago, U.S.A. from November 25 through 29. This new product will be available early 2008.

As imaging technology advances, modality devices are producing such high resolutions that even current 5MP displays are unable to reproduce the images without a certain amount of data loss. In order to accept the higher resolution images of modality devices, a panel of over 5 MP is needed. Until now, economies of scale have made development of such a display, cost prohibitive. Now, Totoku introduces the new, affordable, MS51i2, which realizes resolution levels of 15MP as a major breakthrough in softcopy diagnostic environment.

[Super High Resolution of 15MP]
The MS51i2 equipped with Independent Sub-pixel Driving, patent pending technology, offers excellent depiction of image reproduction, faithful to its original captured by the modality device without image degradation. This new product also provides an application interface to the viewing software.

[AR Coating for Film-like Black and Improved Sharpness]
The special AR coating of the MS51i2 offers improved properties of noise, focus, contrast and viewing angle compared to the conventional AG-coated LCD.
