RSNA2007 Event Report

RSNA 2007 (Radiological Society of North America)

Nov.25 - 29, 2007 at McCormick Place in Chicago

At RSNA in Chicago, TOTOKU worked in concert with its two United States partners, Quest International, and U.S. Electronics, Inc. It was a very successful show, with many booth visitors. Thank you all for coming to our booths.

Topics:

Industry's First 15 MP Display for Mammography “MS51i2” LAUNCHED AT RSNA!
MS51i2 is equipped with ISD (Independent Sub-pixel Drive) technology enabling each sub-pixel to be driven independently, and consequently, three-times the resolution of 5MP, (15MP) is achieved. Furthermore, TOTOKU’s new Special AR Coating technology used in MS51i2 addresses properties of focus, noise reduction, contrast, and viewing angle, achieving film-like black and accurate reproduction of images.
Clinical Evaluation:
Findings of the joint study by Kanazawa University, Chicago University, and TOTOKU clinical comparison between the new 15MP LCD and a conventional 5MP LCD, were presented at Education Exhibits. The results are as follows:
  • The ISD technology could improve the resolution of conventional LCDs by three times such that the SHR-LCD (9M) had a sub-pixel width of 69μm and 55μm for the SHR-LCD (15M).
  • The depiction ability of detailed shape in clinical images could be improved obviously.
  • The 15MP SHR-LCD provided higher performances than the 5MP LCD in the perceptual comparison of clinical mammography.
At the TOTOKU booth, findings of perceptual comparison of clinical images on 15 MP and 5 MP performed by Kanazawa University were demonstrated. The comparison was performed by 5 doctors and 5 radiologists displaying a total of 100 mammography images from 50 different studies (right and left images for 1 case) on both 15MP and 5MP LCDs. The following 5-point scale was used to determine effectiveness of the two LCDs when the physicians analyzed the existence and shape of micro-calcifications. The results are as follows:
Ratings on 15M LCD
Efficacy of a 15M LCD used in mammogram interpretation was evaluated with 50 cases containing micro calcifications. The 15M LCD received a higher evaluation in approximately 38% of the cases in the existence evaluation, and 76% in the shape evaluation. It was indicated that the 15M LCD would be highly advantageous in softcopy diagnostic environment.
High-luminance Color LCD of 800cd/m²
We exhibited engineering samples of high-luminance medical LCDs, CCL354i2 (3MP) and CCL254i2 (2MP) scheduled for release in Spring 2008. Both models realize high luminance of 800cd/㎡ and high contrast enabling monochrome images to be displayed clearly.
15-inch touch panel LCD for various modality devices
CV540PJ enables keyboardless operation with a capacitive touch screen achieving high durability and fast touch response, and an IPS panel equipped with this model realizes high image quality. CV540PJ is best suited for displaying medical images with the preset DICOM GSDF Gamma.
